National security is no joke, and relying only on heavy manpower is no longer enough to protect our borders. People want to feel safe knowing our security forces are steps ahead of modern criminals. Times have changed, and security demands brains over brawn every single day.
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson stepped up as Acting Defence Minister to drop some serious logic on how we run things. During a handover ceremony on Friday, August 14, 2026, he explained that our military posture must transform completely. He handed over duties to the substantive Defence Minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, with a clear blueprint for the future.
Instead of carrying too many bodies on the ground, the Ghana Armed Forces must focus on smart tools and sharp intelligence. Emerging threats require an agile force that thinks fast and acts smarter. Nobody wants a sluggish defence system when technology is driving the entire world forward.
Professionalism and strict discipline must remain the backbone of the military as they adopt these new methods. Dr Ato Forson reminded officers that staying loyal to the national constitution builds solid public trust. Citizens need absolute confidence that the armed forces will always protect democratic values while keeping the nation secure.
