According to official police reports, an angry mob numbering about 300 people invaded the New Winneba township in the Effutu municipality.
The armed group marched in from neighboring Gomoa communities wielding dangerous weapons like guns, cutlasses, stones, and heavy sticks.
Inhabitants watched in utter disbelief as the rampaging crowd started vandalizing local shops, market stores, and residential properties.
Even the Effutu North District Police Headquarters did not escape the destruction as the attackers wreaked total havoc.
Tragically, the violent confrontation claimed three lives while leaving nearly twenty other people nursing severe injuries.
Emergency teams rushed the wounded victims straight to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for urgent medical care.
A police officer was caught up in the madness and sustained injuries while trying to restore order during the chaos.
The Inspector-General of Police responded swiftly by deploying heavy reinforcement teams and armored vehicles to lock down the area.
Local leaders and security chiefs are now begging residents to avoid any form of reprisal attacks while investigations continue.
