Ashanti Region NPP Aspirants Face Vetting Committee Ahead of Internal Elections

The Ashanti Region branch of the New Patriotic Party has officially kicked off its internal vetting process for aspiring regional executives. The screening exercise marks a critical step toward restructuring the party’s leadership base ahead of upcoming internal polls.

Aspiring executives appeared before the official vetting committee in Kumasi to prove their capability to lead the party’s electoral stronghold. The strategic exercise aims to ensure that only dedicated candidates with high integrity assume key administrative roles.

Seventeen Candidates Vetted on First Day of Committee Screening

The vetting process began smoothly on Monday, July 20, 2026, assessing seventeen distinct aspirants seeking key party portfolios. The panel evaluated candidates contesting for First Vice Chairman, Second Vice Chairman, Youth Organizer, Treasurer, and Nasara Organizer positions.

Chairperson of the Ashanti Regional Elections Committee and NPP National Second Vice Chairperson, Rita Asobayire, praised the orderly conduct of all participants. She urged party delegates to prioritize candidates who demonstrate genuine commitment, honesty, and leadership capacity over temporary inducements.

Every candidate appearing before the vetting panel pledged to unite local party factions and rebuild grassroots structures across all constituencies. The aspirants logically noted that maintaining a united political front remains the single most important factor for regaining power in the 2028 general elections.

Aspiring Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Dr Keskine Poku Owusu, revealed plans to overhaul the party’s public messaging strategy. Similarly, the Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, Asafo Adjei Ayeh, emphasized that reorganizing polling station executives will strengthen the party’s electoral chances.

The party leadership confirmed that the official regional executive elections will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Delegates across all forty-seven constituencies in the Ashanti Region will gather to vote for their preferred leaders.

Rebuilding the party structure in its primary electoral bank remains a top priority for national organizers. A transparent internal election will ensure that the newly elected executive team receives maximum support from the party rank and file.
