The wait is finally ending for drivers and traders along the River Oti corridor. Construction of the long-awaited 1.5-kilometer Dambai Bridge is moving steadily, with the Ministry of Roads and Highways confirming an official completion date of May 2029.
For decades, crossing the River Oti at Dambai depended entirely on ferry services. Broken ferries, long queues, and weather delays often turned a short trip into a nightmare. Local contractor Messrs Maripoma Enterprise Limited is spearheading the physical construction under the government’s infrastructure drive. Early engineering works are already active on-site to lay the foundation for main column placement.
Once completed, the bridge will link southern cities like Accra directly to northern agricultural belts without delays. Farmers and market women will move Yams, grains, and livestock much faster, cutting post-harvest losses significantly. Travel times that used to take hours across the water will drop to just minutes.
This project is built using advanced Ultrabridge modular technology and Ultra-High-Performance Concrete. Designers engineered the structure to endure heavy traffic and harsh weather while lasting over 100 years. Roads Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has urged contractors to stick strictly to schedule so residents can enjoy seamless travel by 2029.
