The Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, John Jinapor, has declared that Ghana will hit its 10% renewable energy target by 2030. However, he warned power companies that good money management must support clean energy targets.
Speaking at the Bui Power Authority annual stakeholder meeting, the Minister praised the power producer for beating its clean energy generation targets. The authority expanded its solar capacity, added battery storage systems, and posted strong financial results while keeping worker safety high.
Jinapor stressed that government support alone will not fix the sector. Power producers and distributors must fix revenue collection and enforce payment discipline across the energy chain to protect critical infrastructure investments.
He assured industry players that the government will continue providing solid policy frameworks and grid investments. However, sustainable energy transition requires operational resilience and strict financial responsibility to power Ghana successfully.
