Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has firmly shut down growing political speculation about her alleged ambition to lead the National Democratic Congress into future presidential elections.
Speaking during an interview on The KSM Show, the Vice President explained that taking power comes with a serious duty to work for citizens rather than engaging in early succession battles.
She described lingering internal succession debates as a complete distraction from the government’s official promise to fix pressing economic challenges across the country.
The Vice President stressed that millions of Ghanaians voted for change in expectation of urgent solutions, making any early campaign moves a betrayal of public trust.
She reminded party faithfuls of the intense nationwide consultations and personal sacrifices made by volunteers to shape the NDC manifesto during the 2024 campaign season.
According to her, the administration inherited a very difficult situation, demanding absolute focus on national development rather than premature political ambitions.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that true success depends on giving unalloyed support to President John Dramani Mahama to achieve key policy targets for the nation.
She urged all political figures and supporters to throw their weight behind government projects, insisting that getting the job done remains her sole operational focus.
