Ex-NAFCO CEO arrested at airport for suspected attempt to access frozen bank account

The law catches up with everyone eventually, and former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, found this out the hard way. Law enforcement officers arrested him at the Accra International Airport after a dramatic turn of events.

Deputy Attorney-General, Dr Justice Srem Sai, broke the news in a Facebook post on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The former state official, who is already standing trial for stealing and causing financial loss to the Republic, had permission from the High Court to travel to the United Kingdom for a few days, but his plans quickly crumbled.

According to state authorities, the trouble started when the ex-NAFCO boss allegedly tried to use false means to empty his frozen bank account at Republic Bank. You cannot bypass the system when the state is tracking every cedi, especially when the state claims your actions led to massive financial losses under the national school feeding components.

The Attorney-General’s office is not letting this slide quietly. Dr Justice Srem Sai disclosed that the state will challenge the High Court’s decision that allowed the travel clearance in the first place, and the learned Attorney-General will head to court to seek a formal review of the travel order.
