President John Dramani Mahama launched the Free Primary Healthcare programme at Dodowa on April 15, 2026, to ease this heavy burden on families. Now the National Health Insurance Authority has released over thirty five million cedis as first quarter payment to fund this vision across one hundred and seven districts.
This fresh money gives participating districts predictable upfront funding instead of forcing them to wait on traditional claims processing. Clinics can now plan promotive and preventive care smoothly without financial stress. People living in underserved areas finally get reliable access to basic medical attention right at their community level.
Patients can walk into local health posts for routine screening of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and common illnesses like malaria. Mothers and children also enjoy free antenatal care, postnatal care, immunizations, and growth monitoring. Catching these health conditions early stops them from becoming complex and expensive problems later.
Chief Executive Dr Victor Asare Bampoe urges everyone in the participating districts to visit health posts regularly. Checking your vitals early helps you live a healthier life and avoids serious sickness. Citizens only need a valid national health insurance card when a doctor refers them upward to bigger regional or teaching hospitals.
