Confusion has completely taken over social media after a major disagreement between top state institutions. GCB Bank PLC has officially refuted claims by the Ghana Police Service regarding an alleged robbery. The police earlier announced that officers successfully foiled an armed attack at the Labone branch in Accra. They even stated that security operatives gunned down two suspects and arrested a third individual.
Management of the financial institution however released a strong public disclaimer to clear the heavy confusion. The bank explicitly stated that no robbery or attempted robbery ever took place on their premises. GCB assured customers that the facility remained completely safe without any security breach or loss of funds. You can imagine how shocking it feels when the bank and the police tell two entirely different stories.
Eyewitness accounts and viral video footage from bystanders added massive drama to the already confusing situation. People living around the Labone neighborhood reported hearing heavy gunshots near the banking area on Thursday dawn. While law enforcement insisted their operation targeted criminals close to the financial zone, the bank maintained its ground. Customers naturally panicked after hearing initial reports about shootout incidents happening right at a popular banking hub.
Bank executives are currently engaging relevant authorities to clear up the strange communication gap. Citizens deserve accurate and well coordinated information whenever security operations happen within busy residential areas.
