Traders who travel between Ghana and Burkina Faso can finally breathe a massive sigh of relief today. The two neighboring countries have officially joined forces to crush the growing insecurity on our shared roads.
Doing business along that route used to feel like an extreme survival movie. Thankfully both governments realized that protecting human lives and business goods is the only way our economies can survive.
Our Deputy Minister of Defense Doctor Cassiel Ato Baah Forson stepped up to the plate and signed this powerful new agreement. He represented the Ministry of Defense right here to make sure Ghana secures its vital trade routes properly.
On the other side of the table sat Major General Celestin Simpore. He proudly represented Burkina Faso as their Minister of State and Minister of War and Patriotic Defense. When military generals sit down to sign papers you know they mean serious business.
The main goal of this fresh defense cooperation agreement is very simple and logical. Both countries will now provide heavy security and escort support for our hardworking traders moving essential goods back and forth.
You see tomato sellers and truck drivers should never have to worry about terrorist attacks while searching for their daily bread. The joint military presence will boldly neutralize any violent extremism trying to disrupt the West African trade corridor.
This brilliant move heavily protects our local markets from unnecessary food shortages and price hikes. When goods arrive safely without security delays everybody wins from the wealthy importer down to the street seller.
Let us hope the soldiers hit the ground running immediately to enforce this great plan. The days of dangerous border travels are slowly coming to an end and our traders completely deserve this massive victory.
