Ghanaians seeking better security across our national entry points can finally sleep with both eyes closed. The Ghana Immigration Service has launched an intensive ten day training program to boost border security through advanced intelligence gathering and modern risk analysis.
The strategic training exercise brings together thirty selected frontline officers from major land, sea, and air borders across the country. Organizers designed the initiative to transform officers from reactive border guards into proactive intelligence operators who can spot threats early.
Comptroller General of Immigration Samuel Basintale Amadu opened the session in Accra, highlighting that modern criminal networks use sophisticated technology, fake documents, and complex financial tricks. He added that extremist groups frequently attempt to exploit irregular migration routes across West Africa.
The International Centre for Migration Policy Development leads the training under the seven point three million Euro European Union funded SHIFT Project. ICMPD Head of Office Amala Obiokoye Nwalor stressed that proper risk analysis remains the true foundation for effective border protection.
Frontline officers are mastering digital data tools, behavioral detection techniques, and inter agency security sharing methods. These technical upgrades will protect communities against cross border crime, illegal smuggling, and Sahelian security spillovers.
