Ghana Gold Board Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi has thrown down a bold challenge to the Minority Caucus in Parliament. He declared his full readiness to appear before parliamentary committees to answer questions concerning GoldBod operations.
Speaking during a live X Space session on Sunday August 9, the GoldBod chief dismissed accusations coming from the opposition New Patriotic Party. He described the political attacks as emotional bitterness rather than genuine policy concerns.
Sammy Gyamfi specifically addressed Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin, accusing him of spreading broad allegations without pointing out specific procurement infractions. He noted that while he takes policy feedback from figures like Kojo Oppong Nkrumah seriously, Afenyo Markin is simply seeking personal attention.
The GoldBod CEO urged key parliamentary bodies to summon him immediately for an open hearing. He listed the Economic Committee, Finance Committee, Lands and Mines Committee, and the Public Accounts Committee as proper venues for accountability.
Gyamfi insisted that media houses like GTV must cover the proceedings live so that all Ghanaians can judge the facts for themselves. He emphasized that he fears no public scrutiny because GoldBod maintains high standards of transparency.
Addressing claims about siphoning public funds, Gyamfi directly challenged Public Accounts Committee Chairwoman Abena Osei Asare to issue an official invitation. He stressed that leadership requires real action rather than running radio commentaries.
This public invitation places the ball firmly in Parliament’s court as citizens eagerly await official legislative hearings on the nation’s precious minerals management.
