Ghana to Mark World Cleanup Day with National Sanitation Day

Ghana is set to mark World Cleanup Day with a nationwide National Sanitation Day exercise on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

The exercise will bring people across the country together to clean their communities and public spaces.

Residents, community groups, organisations and other stakeholders are expected to take part in the cleanup.

The exercise is also expected to create awareness about proper waste disposal and the need to keep Ghana clean.

Beyond the cleanup, the initiative aims to encourage Ghanaians to make sanitation a daily responsibility.

Keeping communities clean can help reduce waste-related problems and create healthier surroundings for residents.

The National Sanitation Day will therefore provide an opportunity for people to work together and promote cleaner communities across the country.

Authorities are encouraging the public to participate and support efforts to improve sanitation and waste management in Ghana.
