The Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, has embarked on a historic royal visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The visit marks a major milestone in strengthening the deep, centuries-old ties between the Gonja and Asante kingdoms. Traveling with the Yagbonwura is a high-powered delegation comprising divisional chiefs, elders, queen mothers, and key officials from the Gonja Kingdom.
The significance of the journey was felt along the route. As the royal convoy traveled through the Savannah and Ashanti regions, traditional leaders and residents of communities like Portor and Babator lined the streets, offering vibrant welcomes to pay their respects to the Overlord.
This historic meeting provides an opportunity for the two revered traditional rulers to discuss issues of mutual interest, deepen inter-kingdom cooperation, and promote national peace and unity. The engagement highlights the enduring, vital role Ghana’s traditional leadership plays in modern cultural diplomacy and national cohesion.
