Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has pledged 5,000 bags of Dzata Cement to support residents affected by the recent floods in Hohoe in the Volta Region.

President John Dramani Mahama disclosed the pledge on Friday, October 2, 2026, during a visit to the Hohoe Zongo to assess the damage caused by the flooding.

According to the President, the cement will support families whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged by the floods as they begin rebuilding.

The flooding affected more than 5,000 residents and damaged hundreds of homes after the River Dayi overflowed following heavy rainfall. Preliminary figures from NADMO indicate that 5,140 people and 412 houses across 11 communities were affected.

President Mahama also presented relief items to affected residents and said government agencies, including NADMO, were supporting the recovery efforts.

He directed local authorities to ensure that relief items reach residents who were directly affected by the disaster.

The 5,000 bags of cement are expected to provide additional support for reconstruction as affected families work to rebuild their homes and recover from the devastating floods.
