Team Ghana made a memorable appearance at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, proudly showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage as King Charles III officially declared the international sporting event open.
The Ghanaian delegation attracted widespread attention as athletes marched into the OVO Hydro Arena dressed in traditional kente attire, representing the nation’s history, identity, and culture before a global audience. Their colorful presentation highlighted Ghana’s unique traditions while joining thousands of competitors from across the Commonwealth for the official start of the Games.
The opening ceremony marked the beginning of one of the world’s largest multi-sport events, bringing together more than 3,000 athletes from Commonwealth nations to compete across a wide range of sporting disciplines over the next ten days.
Ghana is participating with a delegation of 40 athletes who will compete in several events, including athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, swimming, weightlifting, para swimming, and para powerlifting.
