Julius Kwame Anthony, Deputy National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticised former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, claiming that he was not paying sufficient attention to important issues during his time in office.
Anthony’s comment has added to the ongoing political debate over Bawumia’s performance as Vice President under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The NDC communicator’s remarks raise questions about Bawumia’s role in the previous administration and his involvement in addressing key national issues, including the economy and governance.
Bawumia served as Vice President from 2017 to 2025. During that period, he was closely associated with the government’s economic policy discussions, particularly its digitalisation agenda.
Anthony’s criticism reflects the NDC’s position on the record of the previous administration. However, the claim that Bawumia was not paying attention remains Anthony’s assessment and should be considered in the context of the wider debate over the former Vice President’s responsibilities and performance.
The comment is likely to keep attention on Bawumia’s time in office as political figures continue to debate the previous government’s record and its impact on Ghana.
