Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams has provided further details about the involvement of TRIBE Culture Fest in arrangements linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup probe.
According to the minister, the Sports Ministry was informed that TRIBE Culture Fest would handle activations for the American Embassy’s “16 by 16” events across the regions of Ghana.
Adams also stated that his investigations indicated that the American Embassy introduced TRIBE Culture Fest to the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The minister’s comments come amid scrutiny surrounding the arrangements and questions raised about 90 volunteers linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup probe.
Adams dismissed claims made by Vincent Assafuah regarding the volunteers. He said no one had indicated that any volunteer was misrepresented.
He further stated that the US Embassy had not written to the Sports Ministry about the volunteers.
The minister’s explanation adds to the ongoing discussion about the roles of the institutions and organisations involved in the arrangements.
Questions surrounding the reported financial transactions, the volunteer arrangements and the responsibilities of the various parties remain matters of public interest.
Further clarification and documentary evidence from the relevant institutions could help establish the details of the arrangements and address the concerns surrounding the probe.
