Crime truly does not pay, and one young man in Kumasi has learned this bitter lesson the hard way. A twenty-two-year-old man named Christian Owusu is heading to prison for a very long time. The Atasemanso Circuit Court successfully sentenced him to ten years imprisonment with hard labour. His fast journey from the streets straight into a prison cell will certainly shock many youth today.
The whole trouble started back on July 21, 2026, when an unsuspecting woman headed toward the Konkromase Township in Kumasi. The young convict accosted her around midday and threatened her before snatching her handbag. That small bag contained her important personal effects and hard-earned cash. She rushed to report the frightening ordeal to the Ashanti Central District Police Command by five o’clock that same evening.
Police investigators launched a swift manhunt and tracked down the suspect, arresting him on August 4, 2026. They quickly arraigned him before the court on August 7, 2026, where His Lordship Mr. Kwaku Baah Frimpong presided over the matter. Faced with the undeniable facts, the young man chose not to waste the court’s time and pleaded guilty to the charge.
Before the judge handed down the final verdict, the accused begged the court for deep mercy and forgiveness. The presiding judge considered his plea but applied the law strictly by handing him the mandatory minimum ten-year sentence. Authorities immediately transferred him to the Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving his hard labour. Young people must realize that street robbery ruins futures in split seconds. Honest hustle remains the best way to survive in this country without ending up behind iron bars.
