The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially relaunched its “Setting the Records Straight” communication campaign. This initiative is specifically designed to counter what the party characterizes as widespread misinformation and propaganda within the Ghanaian political landscape.
During a ceremony at the party’s headquarters in Accra, Deputy National Communications Officer Mr. Godwin Arko Gunn stated that the campaign serves as a direct response to misleading narratives attributed to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). The party maintains that a structured and coordinated communication strategy is essential to prevent false information from distorting the public’s perception of state performance.
According to the NDC, the current administration, led by President John Dramani Mahama, has achieved significant milestones over the past 17 months. Mr. Gunn highlighted progress in stabilizing the national economy, restoring the confidence of international investors, and the successful rollout of various people-centered policies.
Key Objectives of the Relaunched Campaign
The revived platform aims to strengthen the relationship between the government and the citizenry through several strategic goals:
- Correcting Narratives: Providing a structured environment to directly address and rectify what the party labels as deliberate false information from the opposition.
- Clarifying Policy: Ensuring that the government’s specific programs, achievements, and long-term policies are communicated clearly to the general public.
- Strengthening Trust: Under the leadership of General Secretary Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party is prioritizing sustained public engagement to build transparency in government communication.
- Countering Undermining Efforts: Addressing attempts by political opponents to erode public confidence in the sitting government.
The NDC views this campaign as a necessary tool for maintaining the integrity of the political discourse as the government continues its development agenda.
