Former National Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko, has strongly rejected rumors that he used his political relationship with former President John Agyekum Kufuor to acquire a stake in Accra’s luxury Kempinski Hotel. Speaking in an exclusive interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face program on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the businessman clarified that the high profile project relied strictly on commercial loans and equity.
Political rumors frequently link private commercial investments to state influence, especially when prominent public figures are involved. However, Mr. Afoko insisted that private corporate financing, rather than political patronage, funded the construction of the landmark luxury hotel.
Addressing longstanding public speculation, Paul Afoko clarified that he does not own the Kempinski Hotel outright. While he acknowledged holding a genuine financial interest in the property, he emphasized that the international hotel development belongs to a broader group of corporate investors and financial lenders.
