Prophet Kofi Amponsah, a resident of the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region, has made a public plea for help following a dramatic breakdown of his 30-year marriage. The clergyman, who now resides at Pekyi No. 2, claims he was allegedly chased out of his matrimonial home by his wife, Adwoa Brago, following a series of disputes over his ministry and personal conduct.
The conflict reached a boiling point when the prophet appeared on the domestic affairs program Oyerepa Afutuo on April 29, 2026, to share his side of a story that involves accusations of infidelity, financial disputes, and spiritual restrictions. With eight children between them, the couple is now deadlocked as the wife’s family reportedly demands a staggering GH¢400,000 in compensation.

The prophet claims his marital ordeal intensified after he agreed to save money for a 14-year-old girl who wanted to buy a mobile phone. Although he states he informed his wife about the arrangement, he was subsequently accused of having an inappropriate relationship with the teenager.
Prophet Amponsah denies these claims of infidelity, noting that his wife even went as far as confronting the girl’s family. He explained that the constant accusations began to destroy his church ministry, eventually forcing him to leave for Anwoa Nkanta to establish a new branch in search of peace.
Why is the wife’s family demanding GH¢400,000 in compensation?
According to Adwoa Brago, the demand for GH¢400,000 stems from a dispute over a jointly owned cocoa farm. She alleges that the prophet has consistently refused to share the proceeds from the farm with her, leading her family to demand the high sum as a settlement if the farm remains unshared.
The prophet, however, views the situation differently, claiming he told the family she could keep their house if she no longer wanted him there, only to be met with the massive financial demand. He expressed distress over the situation, stating he has no one to help him settle the heavy financial burden.
