Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have confirmed that forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has undergone successful surgery on his right knee after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The club announced on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, that the operation took place at ASPETAR Hospital in Doha, Qatar. The Georgian international will now begin his rehabilitation.
Kvaratskhelia Injured Against Barcelona
Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury during PSG’s 4–2 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on October 20, 2026.
Medical examinations later confirmed damage to the ACL in his right knee, making surgery necessary.
Although the operation was successful, PSG have not announced when the 25-year-old winger is expected to return to action.
PSG Await His Return
Kvaratskhelia’s injury is a setback for PSG, who will have to continue their domestic and European campaigns without one of their attacking players.
The forward is known for his pace, creativity and dribbling ability. His absence could affect the club’s attacking options as he begins the recovery process.
His return to football will depend on his progress during rehabilitation and further medical assessments. PSG have yet to provide a specific recovery timeline.
Kvaratskhelia Finishes Sixth in Ballon d’Or Rankings
Kvaratskhelia also finished sixth in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings, making him the highest-ranked PSG player in the voting.
The surgery announcement followed the awards ceremony, which took place in London. The forward was unable to attend as he dealt with his injury and prepared for the operation.
For now, PSG will focus on his rehabilitation as he works towards returning to competitive football.
