The Government of Ghana successfully received another batch of eighty seven citizens fleeing xenophobic tensions in South Africa. Ambassador Harold Agyeman welcomed the weary travelers at the Accra International Airport on Monday August seventeenth 2026. This latest movement brings the total number of evacuated nationals to about sixteen hundred since May 2026.

Government officials assured the returnees of complete support to help them settle back smoothly into their home communities. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with NADMO and security agencies made sure everyone received proper attention upon landing. Returning citizens also received modest resettlement packages provided under presidential directives to cushion their fresh start.

Ambassador Agyeman reminded everyone that Africans remain one big family despite unfortunate incidents of intolerance abroad. He encouraged the returnees to use newly acquired skills to build profitable ventures right here on home soil. Authorities expect about three hundred more individuals to arrive soon to wrap up this second evacuation phase.
