Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang wants a modern tax system to boost revenue mobilization across the country. Speaking at the fourteenth Annual International Tax Conference in Accra, she stressed that voluntary compliance remains key to fixing national finances. Governments worldwide must redesign tax structures to cope with rapid economic and digital shifts.

Ghana requires stable revenue generation to fund critical sectors like health, education, and national security without struggling. Recent reforms to Value Added Tax regimes aim to create a simpler and fairer environment for everyone. Authorities are also digitizing tax administration to monitor cross-border digital transactions effectively.

Bringing more people on board ensures equitable contributions so that infrastructure projects do not stall. Citizens will gladly fulfill civic duties when public administration remains transparent and trustworthy.
