The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested and arraigned three suspects following the fatal lynching of Yusuf Zakari at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi. Officers launched a swift investigation after a group of individuals violently attacked the victim at a local cattle kraal during the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026.
Good samaritans initially rushed Zakari to the Manhyia Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, medical officers referred him to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Police investigators quickly identified and apprehended three primary suspects linked to the fatal assault. The police arraigned 37 year old plumber Moses Adoko, 25 year old herdsman Abubakari Adams, and 35 year old motor mechanic Nurudeen Suleman before the court.
Presiding over the Asokore Mampong District Court, Her Worship Mrs Hilder Esther Wryter remanded all three accused individuals into police custody. The magistrate adjourned the criminal court proceedings to August 7, 2026, for the next official court appearance.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed that active investigations continue to establish every detail surrounding the attack and identify additional accomplices. Police authorities strongly caution community members against resorting to illegal mob justice when dealing with criminal suspects.
