Titus Glover Accuses Government of Using Extradition Efforts to Humiliate Ken Ofori-Atta

The political and legal landscape in West Africa has grown increasingly tense following heavy public debates over institutional accountability. Former Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover has publicly accused the state of handling the extradition processes of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta with malice.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the political figure alleged that the state is actively utilizing these judicial efforts as a tool for public ridicule.

The high-profile controversy centers around ongoing criminal investigations led by the Office of the Special Prosecutor tracking back into previous administrative tenures. State investigators are looking into multiple serious allegations, including a controversial revenue mobilization contract awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Limited. Independent state audits claim that the specific transaction unfortunately resulted in revenue losses of over one point four billion Cedis to the state.

Glover strongly argued that the current legal strategy resembles a carefully managed political drama designed to defame and disgrace the former minister before the general public. He questioned whether the intense state focus on this single individual is deliberately diverting necessary government attention from pressing national issues. The former regional minister suggested that authorities should instead concentrate on delivering massive social commitments like the proposed Women’s Bank initiative.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor remains entirely unyielding in its legal pursuit, maintaining that the anti-corruption campaign is strictly professional. In June 2025, state prosecutors initially took steps to secure an INTERPOL Red Notice after the former minister allegedly failed to honor multiple official invitations for questioning. Although INTERPOL later removed the specific notice from its active system, local law enforcement agencies continue to aggressively pursue his return.

Recent investigative reports indicate that the former finance chief has successfully acquired lawful permanent residency within the United States. However, the special prosecutor officially clarified that securing foreign residency status does not shield any citizen from criminal investigations back home in Ghana. The state insists that all legal procedures are executing in a transparent manner to safeguard public resources and maintain systemic integrity.

The opposition New Patriotic Party continues to firmly stand by the former minister, reiterating that the ongoing prosecution is entirely politically motivated. Meanwhile, government officials maintain that no former public officer is above the law when answering critical questions regarding public funds. This developing legal battle remains one of the most closely watched political events in the sub-region as citizens demand total transparency.
