Two final-year students of Ekumfi Obidan-Potwabin Basic School in the Central Region have died after they were knocked down by a speeding tipper truck.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon while the students were returning home from voluntary classes organised by the school.

The classes were being held amid the ongoing nationwide teachers’ strike.

A third student who was with the victims also sustained severe injuries in the accident.

The injured student is reportedly in critical condition and is receiving medical attention.

One of the victims died at the scene of the accident.

The second student was rushed to the Roman Catholic Hospital in Mankessim but died upon arrival.

The incident has left the school and the affected community mourning the loss of the two students.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are expected to be investigated as authorities work to establish what led to the accident.
