Two in Police Custody Following Wave of Armed Robberies and Cutlass Attacks in Ashaiman

The fight against violent crime in the Greater Accra Region has taken a significant step forward following a successful targeted law enforcement operation. Police in Ashaiman have arrested two men suspected of being involved in a series of armed robberies within the municipality and its neighboring communities.

The suspects, officially identified by law enforcement authorities as Nii Adjei and Selasie, are alleged to have carried out several violent attacks on innocent residents in the area.

Local security reports indicate that the criminal operations of the duo involved extreme violence and intimidation tactics. According to the police tracking data, one of the primary incidents occurred on May 27, 2026, when the suspects reportedly ambushed a woman named Akosua Dwomo. The victim was targeted while attempting to board a vehicle, giving her virtually no time to escape the sudden confrontation.

The investigative file reveals that the assailants were heavily armed with machetes, knives, and a pair of scissors during the encounter. They used these weapons to terrorize the woman before swiftly robbing her of her personal belongings. This particular incident highlights a worrying trend of criminals utilizing everyday tools as lethal weapons to catch unsuspecting commuters completely off guard.

A second documented incident demonstrates that the duo did not always operate alone in their criminal endeavors. A twenty-three-year-old man identified as Danquah was reportedly attacked by the two main suspects together with a large mob of about twenty other young men. This massive swarm tactic left the young victim completely overwhelmed and unable to defend himself against the onslaught.

During the brutal assault, the victim sustained deep cutlass wounds to one of his fingers as the attackers hacked at him. The violent gang then made away with his mobile phone and an estimated GH¢1,600 in cash. Both Nii Adjei and Selasie are currently in police custody assisting law enforcement officials with ongoing investigations.

The Ashaiman police command has assured the public that operations are still heavily underway to track down the remaining fugitives. Security experts note that community policing and swift reporting remain vital tools in dismantling these youth gangs permanently. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious gatherings to the nearest police post immediately.
