Former Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has issued a formal apology to Sammy Gyamfi and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The veteran politician admitted that he did not communicate his intended position well during discussions on recent political developments.
The friction came up after heated debate surrounding statements made about Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. Political commentators noted that Sammy Gyamfi used harsh words against Afenyo-Markin, which led Vanderpuye to offer initial comments that created misunderstandings within his own party.
Realizing that his remarks triggered unwanted internal tension, Vanderpuye took full responsibility for his words. He emphasized his strong commitment to party unity and cleared up the issue to ensure everyone stays focused on the NDC’s broader goals.
Party faithfuls expect this quick public apology to calm tempers down across the political space. By stepping up to correct his wording immediately, Vanderpuye shows that internal communication and mature leadership remain top priorities for Ghana’s political figures.
