Zoomlion Ghana Limited has officially launched a critical health protection exercise across all 18 districts in the Volta Region. Spraying teams are moving rapidly through public spaces to eliminate dangerous bacteria and disease-carrying vectors following recent severe flooding across the region.
Floodwaters often sweep through refuse dumps, public toilets, and open drains, carrying dangerous contaminants straight into public areas. The ongoing disinfection targeting markets, schools, health facilities, and lorry parks aims to stop deadly diseases like cholera, typhoid, and malaria right in their tracks before they spread into local families.
Regional Environmental Health Director Stella Kumedzro confirmed that this environmental health intervention is extremely timely for public safety. Stagnant water bodies and accumulated mud quickly turn into breeding grounds for mosquitoes and houseflies after heavy rains. Disinfecting these spaces immediately breaks the cycle of disease transmission.
Zoomlion field workers are using EPA-approved disinfectants and high-pressure fogging machines to ensure thorough coverage. Local residents, market women, and community leaders must fully cooperate with spraying teams by covering food products and keeping surroundings clean. Together, proactive community action and proper sanitation will keep every family safe and healthy.
