When big men in power start claiming they are suffering, ordinary citizens can only laugh to keep from crying. Dr Okoe Boye holds a heavy portfolio featuring roles like Minister for Health and CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority.
He also served as Deputy Minister for Health, Board Chairman of Korle Bu, and Member of Parliament from 2017 to 2021 alongside his full time medical practice at Lekma Hospital.
Looking at this massive CV, logic tells you that financial hardship is the absolute last thing this gentleman should face. Yet reports show he went ahead to take a scholarship meant strictly for needy students while he was clearly not poor. People genuinely wonder how someone sitting comfortably at the top can swallow opportunities meant for struggling youth.
Such actions break the hearts of young Ghanaians who hustle everyday without any financial backing or political connection. When privileged leaders grab resources meant for the vulnerable, trust in public office takes a massive hit. Citizens can only shake their heads and cry out to the heavens for divine intervention.
