The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finally cleared the air on why Athletic Bilbao star Iñaki Williams retired from the Black Stars. According to the GFA, the forward stepped away from international football to focus entirely on his club career duties.
I always know that juggling long international travel flights across continents while maintaining top La Liga form is no joke, but seeing Iñaki hang up his Ghana shirt so soon hits fans right in the chest! IMO, balancing club workload and national team duties gets exhausting over time.
Why did the experienced forward make the tough call to end his four-year international stint with Ghana? GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum revealed that Williams held direct discussions with head coach Carlos Queiroz and GFA President Kurt Okraku before making his public announcement.
The association clarified that Williams showed zero dissatisfaction or bad energy inside the national team camp throughout his four-year stay.
