Politics in Ghana always brings interesting twists and unexpected moments. Honourable Afenyo Markin has dropped a heavy piece of advice for the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board Sammy Gyamfi. He wants the young leader to embrace feedback instead of fighting back.
The Minority Leader, Afenyo Markin recently advised the GoldBod boss to stay calm when people question his official decisions. Afenyo Markin boldly reminded everyone that Sammy Gyamfi used to be one of the loudest critics when his party was in opposition. Therefore he must learn to swallow the exact same bitter medicine today.
Currently Sammy Gyamfi is leading major reforms in the precious minerals sector. His new institution aims to stop raw mineral exports and ensure Ghana keeps more money from its natural wealth. With such a massive national assignment people will naturally demand accountability and ask tough questions.
According to Afenyo Markin constructive criticism only helps to push the country forward. He warned the GoldBod boss that the loyalists he currently deploys to attack his critics today might abandon him tomorrow. It is a simple message about karma and political maturity that every young leader needs to hear.
Afenyo Markin noted, In this public service space nobody is immune to public scrutiny or accountability. The GoldBod Chief Executive Officer must develop a very thick skin and focus purely on delivering his promises. After all the ultimate goal is to build a prosperous and wealthy Ghana for all citizens.
