Things are getting very serious for Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD). Today, August 3, 2026, an Accra High Court has ordered the freezing of five of his bank accounts and four of his landed properties.
This major move is part of an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). They are looking into a massive GH¢55 million that is allegedly missing or mismanaged from his time at IMCCoD.
Basically, the court order means Mr. Aboagye cannot touch the money in those specific accounts. He also cannot sell, transfer, or mortgage the four properties mentioned. This “asset preservation order” is a standard legal step EOCO takes to make sure money or assets are secured while they figure out exactly what happened.
The anti-graft agency is digging deep into procurement processes and financial transactions to see if there was any fraud, theft, or irregularities. This all follows his dramatic arrest a few weeks back on July 12, when he was picked up by immigration officers at the Kotoka International Airport because he was on a stop list.
Mr. Aboagye has strongly denied all allegations. He recently stated on radio that the GH¢55 million figure was “nothing but lies and propaganda” meant to tarnish his image and that he has always cooperated with investigators. He also questioned why he was placed on a stop list when he was always available for questioning.
Right now, the investigation is still active, and no court has found him guilty of anything. The freeze order will remain in place until the court decides otherwise, but it is clear EOCO is aggressively pursuing this case.
