Earning peanuts after enduring long hours under the scorching sun leaves most youth struggling to survive rather than progress.
ActionAid’s Aliya Mumuni recently stepped up by leading a strategic dialogue with thirty informal business operators to demand immediate changes. The engagement aims to promote decent work standards and secure better working conditions for vulnerable young employees across local communities. Employers must understand that paying fair wages is not a favor but a mandatory legal obligation under Ghanaian labor laws.
Transforming these informal workspaces requires active monitoring by relevant authorities to punish greedy bosses who take advantage of desperate youth. Young workers deserve dignity safety and prompt payment for every single task they execute without unnecessary excuses. Standing up against unfair employment practices remains the only sure way to build a prosperous and equitable future for everyone.
