The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an urgent weather forecast for Wednesday, August 19, warning citizens to prepare for heavy rain and thunderstorms across several regions.
Overcast skies dominate much of the nation today, while active squall lines move inland from neighboring borders. If you have outdoor plans this afternoon, keeping an umbrella close is no longer optional.
Unsettled weather will hit the northern, middle, and transition sectors hardest, bringing rain of varying intensities along with strong, gusty winds. Coastal and nearby inland locations can also expect light drizzle or slight rain throughout the day.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and GMet advise everyone to stay indoors during severe thunder. Drivers must reduce speed on slippery roads, while residents should avoid standing under isolated trees or near exposed electrical connections.
