A dark cloud has fallen over the security fraternity in Assin Fosu following a deadly road accident. A tragic late-night motorbike crash has claimed the life of an immigration officer and left a police officer fighting for his life in critical condition.
The deceased officer, identified as Amoakoh and affectionately known as Ahuoden, was riding as a pillion passenger. The motorbike, operated by a police officer from the Central North Regional Police Command, suddenly veered off the road while traveling from Finest Pup toward the Assin Fosu Main Lorry Station.
The motorcycle smashed into a concrete structure along the road, throwing both officers onto the pavement. Eyewitnesses at the scene quickly rushed to help and transported the two victims to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu for urgent medical attention.
Medical experts pronounced Amoakoh dead upon arrival at the health facility. His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue awaiting further procedures. Meanwhile, the surviving police officer suffered severe fractures to his left arm and left leg and remains under intensive care.
Officers from the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) have since impounded the damaged motorbike and launched a full investigation to establish the exact cause of the fatal crash.
