Ghanaian political discourse has taken an intense turn. Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), recently made bold claims about US-based political commentator Kelvin Taylor. Many grassroots supporters thought Taylor was fighting for the NDC, but party executives view him differently.
Gbande publicly stated that Kelvin Taylor is not for NDC, adding that he is actually NPP’s stock. He cautioned party members against viewing Taylor as an official media voice for their political agenda. According to NDC leadership, Taylor came from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) background and continues to serve external interests rather than party unity.
This revelation is crucial because political loyalty affects how voters interpret news and media commentaries. Research on party communication shows that external media voices can easily influence voter perception without representing official party policy. When commentators act independently, party leaders often step in to clarify official boundaries.
Gbande highlighted that Taylor has consistently attacked key NDC figures, including high-profile leaders, proving his agenda does not align with the umbrella party. Political analysts note that unverified online commentary can create confusion among voters ahead of major elections. The party insists its communication remains strictly under official leadership channels.
Ghanaian voters are advised to verify political information directly from official party secretariats and credible news platforms. Understanding the source of political messaging helps maintain peace, clear communication, and informed voting choices across the country.
