Educational infrastructure in the Upper East Region just received a massive and timely boost. President John Dramani Mahama has officially commissioned a brand new E-Block facility for the Paga Senior High School. The grand event took place in the Kassena Nankana West District to the excitement of local teachers and students. This bold step aims to expand secondary school access and improve learning conditions in the area.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President Mahama emphasized that his administration is fully committed to fixing infrastructure deficits. He noted that leaving taxpayer funded projects incomplete is a complete waste of national resources. The government has therefore dedicated funds to finish abandoned E-Block projects across the country. Students at Paga Senior High School previously endured very difficult conditions while waiting for this completion.
This commissioning forms part of a broader plan funded under the Strategic Secondary Education Transformation project. The initiative relies on a massive GH¢3 billion investment to upgrade secondary education infrastructure nationwide. Mahama plan to eliminate the stressful double track system in all senior high schools by the year 2027. Ending this system will significantly increase daily teacher contact hours and boost student performance.
Local community members and educational stakeholders showered massive praise on the government for fulfilling this important promise. Parents expressed relief knowing their children will finally study in spacious and well-equipped classrooms. Quality education remains the greatest equalizer for our youth so these investments are truly worth celebrating. Everyone hopes this momentum continues until every school in Ghana enjoys top-notch facilities.
