MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to customers, partners, and stakeholders as the company marks its 30th anniversary in Ghana. Company officials say the success of MTN over the past three decades has been made possible through the support and trust of millions of customers, government institutions, business partners, employees, and other stakeholders across the country.
Speaking at a media and stakeholder engagement programme in Takoradi, Michael Gbewonyo, Chief Internal Audit and Forensic Officer at MTN Ghana, said the company values the important role stakeholders have played in its journey of growth and transformation.
He explained that reaching the 30 year milestone provided an opportunity to reflect on the company’s achievements while expressing appreciation to everyone who contributed to its success.
Mr. Gbewonyo said the anniversary theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You,” was carefully chosen because MTN’s achievements have never been the result of the company’s efforts alone. Instead, he said the progress reflects years of partnership with customers, communities, businesses, and institutions throughout Ghana.
He noted that Ghana’s telecommunications sector has changed dramatically over the past three decades. According to him, making a simple phone call between cities once presented significant challenges, but technological advancement has completely transformed communication across the country.
He recalled that about 30 years ago, placing a phone call from Takoradi to Cape Coast was often difficult and time consuming. Today, he said, technology allows business owners in Takoradi to communicate with clients in Accra instantly without leaving their offices or shops.
Mr. Gbewonyo described this transformation as both Ghana’s success story and MTN’s own journey. He said technology has made communication faster, more reliable, and more accessible for individuals, businesses, and public institutions.
He emphasized that MTN remains committed to maintaining the confidence customers and stakeholders have placed in the company over the years. According to him, accountability, responsibility, and transparency will continue to guide the company’s operations as it expands its services.
The stakeholder engagement programme brought together journalists from the Western and Central Regions, along with representatives from several public institutions. Participants included officials from the Roads and Highways sector, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Ghana Police Service, and the National Communications Authority.
The gathering provided an opportunity for MTN officials to discuss the company’s progress, future plans, and continued contribution to Ghana’s digital transformation.
Mr. Gbewonyo explained that progress should not be measured only by business growth or expanding customer numbers. He said trust remains equally important because customers expect reliable services, responsible business practices, and transparent operations.
As MTN introduces new products and expands its network, he said the company remains focused on serving customers responsibly while placing their needs at the center of every decision.
He added that maintaining public confidence requires consistent investment in service quality, ethical business practices, and strong relationships with stakeholders.
According to Mr. Gbewonyo, MTN continues to support Ghana’s digital ambitions through investments that create opportunities for individuals, businesses, and communities. These investments include expanding network infrastructure, improving digital services, and supporting initiatives that promote economic development.
Over the years, MTN Ghana has introduced services that have changed how people communicate, conduct business, and access financial services. Mobile technology has helped connect millions of people while creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and supporting the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.
The company believes collaboration with government agencies, regulators, businesses, and local communities remains essential for sustaining this progress. Officials said partnerships have enabled MTN to respond to changing customer needs while contributing to national development.
Participants at the stakeholder forum also discussed the importance of maintaining strong cooperation between telecommunications providers and public institutions to improve service delivery and strengthen Ghana’s communications infrastructure.
As MTN celebrates three decades of operations in Ghana, company leaders say the anniversary is not only about looking back at past achievements but also preparing for the future. They believe continued innovation, responsible leadership, and customer focused services will help the company remain a leading telecommunications provider for years to come.
The company pledged to continue investing in technology, expanding digital access, and supporting programmes that improve lives across Ghana. Officials also reaffirmed their commitment to accountability and transparency as MTN works alongside stakeholders to drive economic growth and digital transformation.
With three decades of experience behind it, MTN Ghana says it remains focused on building stronger partnerships, delivering quality services, and contributing to Ghana’s future through innovation and responsible business leadership.
