The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has successfully dismantled a major illicit cannabis network operating within the Volta Region.
Following a precision-led overnight tactical operation, security forces apprehended three individuals believed to be the primary actors behind a large-scale cultivation and distribution syndicate.
The raid marks a significant victory in the state’s ongoing mission to neutralize drug trafficking hubs that threaten community safety across the country.
Intelligence reports led the NACOC tactical team to specific clusters identified as hotspots for the illegal drug trade. The team executed coordinated strikes in the communities of Koleonu, Wegbe, and Akplamafu, which served as clandestine centers for processing cannabis and manufacturing hashish oil.

Logic dictates that when specialized law enforcement units focus on the source of production, they effectively choke the entire supply chain before it reaches urban streets.
By targeting these rural stash houses, the commission stopped significant quantities of narcotics from entering the black market. Currently, the three arrested suspects are actively assisting detectives with interrogations to help map out broader supply routes and identify hidden collaborators linked to the operation.
Officials confirmed that once these investigations conclude, the suspects will face full prosecution under the relevant narcotics control statutes.
Hoping to keep our local communities safe while ignoring organized drug manufacturing in rural enclaves is an absolute logical failure. While these criminals often hide their operations in remote towns like Koleonu or Wegbe, modern surveillance and intelligence gathering make it increasingly difficult for them to operate undetected.

The Narcotics Control Commission has sent a clear, firm warning that law enforcement remains fully committed to sniffing out these activities. By arresting the key players and shutting down their processing centers, the state is actively reclaiming public spaces and protecting the well-being of every Ghanaian citizen.
