By Emmanuel Fletcher Drivers and passengers plying the northern routes have suffered too much pain over endless road delays. People naturally feel frustrated when changing governments abandon big infrastructure projects. Thankfully there is finally some fresh hope for commuters who use the long stretch.
The government has officially promised to finish the Bolgatanga Bawku Pulmakom road project by the end of 2027. Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Agbodza inspected the corridor and confirmed that the contractor is back on site. This major highway stands as one of the most important transport networks in the entire country.
History shows that work first started back in 2016 through loan financing before political changes stalled it. Another loan arrangement followed later, but the national debt crisis blocked progress once again. Minister Agbodza explained that planners divided the road into lots simply to make execution easier rather than running separate jobs.
President John Dramani Mahama has pushed hard to ensure this corridor gets completed alongside other major projects. To solve the money problem, the government completely dropped the old loan system and placed the project directly onto the national budget. The Finance Ministry is releasing an immediate payment of at least eight million euros to give the contractor enough cash flow.
Workers have already returned to the site to clean up, set up equipment, and kick off full scale construction. The Minister assured citizens that the contractor will never abandon the site again. Authorities are also fixing previous oversights by building proper access roads for community facilities in Zebila.
