The interdicted headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Zakaria Abdulai, has accused investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni of conspiring with some teachers at the school to damage his reputation.

Zakaria reportedly described the documentary about the school as false, claiming that it was intended to turn Ghanaians against him.

“Manasseh conspired with teachers at Obuasi SHTS who have issues with me to destroy my reputation and turn Ghanaians against me. His documentary is a lie,” Zakaria Abdulai was quoted as saying.

The headmaster’s comments represent his response to the documentary and the allegations surrounding his conduct at the school.

Allegations Surrounding Obuasi SHTS

The case involving Obuasi SHTS has attracted public attention following allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students.

The matter has also prompted calls for a thorough investigation, with concerns raised about student safety, accountability and the responsibility of school authorities to protect learners.

Zakaria has challenged the documentary’s account, alleging that some teachers who have disagreements with him worked with the journalist to undermine his reputation.

However, the claim of a conspiracy remains an allegation and has not been independently established in the information available for this report.

Calls for a Fair Investigation

The controversy highlights the importance of allowing all parties to present their accounts while ensuring that the allegations involving students receive proper investigation.

Any claims of misconduct, professional wrongdoing or deliberate reputational harm should be assessed using credible evidence and the appropriate investigative procedures.

The interests and protection of students must remain central to the process, while the rights of those accused should also be respected.

Further clarification from Manasseh Azure Awuni, the teachers mentioned in the allegation and the relevant authorities would help establish the different accounts of the dispute.
