New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser, Sammi Awuku, has said that the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi did not financed the campaign of the party in the 2016 elections.
The statement was in reaction to comments by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communicator, Sammy Gyamfi on Peace FM on Friday that the embattled FA Boss is a well-known sympathizer of the NPP and a financier.
But in his assertion, Sammi Awuku said denied the claim adding that Nyantakyi is not in the books of the party as a financier of the party.
“I have worked with the party for years to know who financed the party or otherwise…I don’t have that on record that Nyantakyi financed NPP, Nyantakyi did not donate to the NPP…,” he said.
According to him, Nyantakyi may have given monies to individual members of the NPP in one way or the other to support their bids but not to the party.
“Maybe, he donated to individuals which is allowed but not to the party…,” he added.
Mr Nyantakyi was invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations into fraud allegations.
It follows a complaint made by President Akufo-Addo accusing Mr Nyantakyi of using his name fraudulently.
The complaint follows an investigative piece, Number 12, by Anas Aremeyaw Anas about rot in Ghana football.
