A 45-year-old Ghanaian man based in the United Kingdom, Evans Nyarko, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of rape at Aylesbury Crown Court.

The case involved a woman in Milton Keynes who had relied on Nyarko to help her get home safely after a night out.

According to court proceedings, the incident happened on August 12, 2024, in the Conniburrow area of Milton Keynes.

Nyarko reportedly offered to help the woman get home by taxi. After arriving at her home shortly after midnight, the woman became unwell and struggled to walk.

The court heard that Nyarko assisted her into the house before following her into a downstairs toilet, where he raped her.

Nyarko was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Following a six-day trial, a jury unanimously found him guilty of rape.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison on October 1, 2026.

Thames Valley Police described the case as a serious abuse of trust, saying the woman had relied on Nyarko to help her get home safely.

Police also praised the victim for her courage and dignity throughout the investigation and court proceedings.

The case highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable people and respecting the trust placed in those who offer assistance.
