Ablakwa Under Fire as Ntim Fordjour Demands His Resignation Over Mahama’s Foreign Travel Saga

Ablakwa _

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has once again come under intense criticism following his recent remarks on the foreign travels of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Deputy Minister of Education and Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has openly called for Ablakwa’s resignation, accusing him of double standards and political hypocrisy.

According to Ntim Fordjour, Ablakwa has been relentless in attacking President Akufo-Addo over issues of foreign trips and expenditure. However, when questions were raised about Mahama’s recent foreign engagements, Ablakwa, who has built his political reputation on transparency and accountability, appeared silent. Fordjour insists this inconsistency is unacceptable, especially from a lawmaker who has championed anti-corruption campaigns.

“If Ablakwa truly believes in the principles he preaches, then he must be consistent. His failure to question Mahama’s foreign travel shows that his criticisms are politically motivated and not in the interest of the Ghanaian people. For that reason, we are expecting nothing less than his resignation,” Fordjour stated firmly during his address.

The clash between Ablakwa and Fordjour has reignited debate over accountability in Ghana’s political space. While Ablakwa has in recent years gained popularity for exposing issues of public spending, particularly regarding presidential travel and alleged misuse of state funds, his critics argue that he applies a selective lens, targeting only the ruling government while shielding figures from his own political party.
