In a recent development regarding the People’s National Convention (PNC) internal matters, Hon. Alhassan Azong, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, has issued a press statement to address rising concerns about potential disqualifications ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

The clarification came after rumors circulated that Bernard Mornah, a prominent figure within the PNC, may have been disqualified following actions taken by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

This created uncertainty among party members and supporters regarding the upcoming elections.

According to Hon. Azong, the Disciplinary Committee, though a duly established body, has not received any mandate from the National Executive Committee (NEC) to investigate or address specific issues related to any candidates.

He emphasized that any actions taken by the Disciplinary Committee in the absence of an explicit directive from the NEC are unauthorized and hold no legal standing within the party’s framework.

“No one has been disqualified from contesting the PNC’s presidential candidacy,” Hon. Azong stated firmly.

He reiterated that the NEC, which oversees the party’s electoral processes, has not received any formal reports or recommendations from the Disciplinary Committee, making any claims to the contrary unsubstantiated and unconstitutional.

The Congress Committee Chairman called for calm and unity within the party, urging members to remain focused on the upcoming elections.

He reassured the PNC’s members and supporters that the electoral process will proceed as planned, with all candidates, including Bernard Mornah, still in the race.

Hon. Azong further stressed that no candidate has been disqualified and all actions taken without NEC authorization are null and void.

CONGRESS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN CLARIFIES DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE’S
ACTIONS

On behalf of the Congress Committee, I, Hon Alhassan Azong, Chairman, wish to address the recent statement released by the disciplinary committee.

We urge all party members to remain calm and focused on the upcoming elections. No candidate, including Bernard Mornah has been disqualified, and the electoral process will proceed as scheduled.

We reiterate that the NEC has not received any report or recommendations from the disciplinary committee, and any claims or statements made by the committee are without merit and unconstitutional.
