Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has officially confirmed that head coach Eric Tinkler has left his role after terminating his contract.
The Board of Directors agreed to the request from the South African tactician to step down immediately due to personal reasons. This sudden development comes right after the Porcupine Warriors suffered a disappointing two-goal defeat against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Football fans across Kumasi are talking plenty because nobody expected this kind of sharp twist so early in the season.
During his brief stay in charge, the experienced manager oversaw four matches in the Ghana Premier League. His short league record stood at one win, two draws, and a single defeat, leaving the team sitting ninth on the league table. Even though he managed to secure the pre-season Democracy Cup by beating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak on penalties, the recent domestic struggles brought heavy pressure. Management tried holding discussions to convince him to stay, but he remained firm on walking away.
The club hierarchy has accepted the reality and moved quickly to steady the rocking boat. Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo will step up to guide the technical team through the upcoming fixtures. Supporters are understandably worried about the sudden vacuum, but club officials believe stability will return soon. The Porcupine Warriors must now refocus their energy ahead of their next tough league fixture at home.
