Driving a rickety vehicle on public roads feels like playing Russian roulette with death itself. Citizens expect private testing centers to check vehicle safety before issuing official documents. Shocking revelations have now exposed deep corruption within some testing stations.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Julius Neequaye Kotey dropped bombshell secrets. Speaking on TV3 Hot Issues on Sunday August 16 he revealed massive operational fraud. Some private vehicle testing stations issue roadworthiness certificates without even seeing the vehicles.
He disclosed that he has personally shut down about five private stations this year alone due to extreme compliance failures. In one shocking case a testing machine remained completely faulty for three years while the station kept issuing certificates. An internal staff member also engaged in issuing documents while testing equipment stayed dead.
Many vehicles moving across our streets right now fail to meet basic safety requirements. The DVLA boss explained that these questionable renewals bypass proper checks through compromised private facilities. Innocent public officials often take the blame for accidents caused by these ghost inspections.
To fix this mess the authority is deploying a brand new video monitoring system inspired by Denmark. Under this upcoming setup every vehicle must appear clearly on video during inspection before certification unlocks. Officials at the head office will verify the footage directly before systems generate any document.
Engineers have finished initial testing and corrections, targeting full implementation for next year. Drivers must prepare themselves because this strict upgrade will force many unsafe cars off our roads completely. Safety on our national highways requires total honesty from every single citizen and operator.
